Typically, this type of appraisal is called a retrospective appraisal, meaning the value is based on the date your loved one passed away. It is standard for homes I appraise for probate to be filled with the personal belongings of your loved one. I do not appraise personal property. I only appraise the property. However, this is not a problem if the house is filled with personal belongings.
